Disloyal: A Memoir, The Story Of The Former Personal Attorney To President Donald J. Trump, By Michael Cohen.
This book talks about the inside story of the Real President Trump, by His Former Attorney and Personal Adviser-The Man Who Helped Get Him Into The Oval Office.
The House Oversight Committee
Before Michael Cohen was to testify before The House Oversight Committee, he felt like a scared, broke and broken man. A convicted disgraced and disbarred former attorney about to testify against the President on live television before an audience of more than 15 million Americans.
GOP Representative, Matt Gaetz tweeted at Cohen the night before he was to testify in front of Congress: “Hey @MichaelCohen212-Does your wife & father-in-law know about your girlfriends? Maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. I wonder if she’ll remain faithful when you’re in prison. She’s about to learn a lot…
Michael Cohen, sitting alone, waiting to testify, felt the weight of what he was about to do. He had his first panic attack, struggling to stand, so he sat down, and he began to cry, overwhelmed with emotion. He felt fear, anger, dread, anxiety, relief, terror, he was all over the map, but he knew that he had to tell the truth this time, and he knew it would hurt Trump. Cohen says that he was going to “tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth”.
Truth to power, is the way that Michael Cohen was going to go in front of The House Oversight Committee. Truth to power in an age when truth itself was on trial.
Donald Trump, The Man
The reasons why there has never been an intimate portrait of Donald Trump, the man. In part, it’s because he has a million acquaintances, pals, and hanger on, but no real friends.
Donald Trump has no one he trusts to keep his secrets. For 10 years, Trump had Michael Cohen as that guy, that was always there for him, and now look what happened to his life. Broke, threatened, ripped of all that he had, and all because he wouldn’t keep lying for Donald Trump, who avoided and evaded taking responsibility for his actions, or anything that does not show him in a good light.
Michael Cohen explains in the book: “I know where the skeletons are buried, because I was the one who buried them”.
Michael Cohen’s Role In The Trump Administration
When Donald Trump wanted to reach Russian President Vladimir Putin, via a secret back channel, (this being before Trump became President of the United States). Cohen writes that he, “stiffed contractors on Trump’s behalf, ripped off his business partners, lied to his wife Melania to hide his sexual infidelities, and bullied and screamed at anyone who threatened Trump’s path to power”.
Donald Trump’s criminality stretches for a wide variety of reasons, with Golden Showers in a sex club in Vegas, to tax fraud, to deals with corrupt officials from the former Soviet Union, to catch-and-kill conspiracies to silence Trump’s clandestine lovers. Cohen was not just a witness to the President’s rise-he was an active and “eager participant”.
Michael Cohen writes: “As you read my story, you will no doubt ask yourself if you like me, or if you would act as I did, and the answer will frequently be no to both of these questions”. Cohen also adds: “only by understanding my decisions and actions that you can get inside Trump’s mind and understand his worldview”.
In the book, Cohen writes: “As anyone in law enforcement will tell you, it’s only gangsters who can reveal the secrets of organized crime. If you want to know how the mob really works, you’ve got to talk to the bad guys. I was one of Trump’s bad guys. In his world, I was one hundred percent a made man”.
The Man Who Worked For Trump 24/7, Tells The True Story
This is a story that you have not read in newspapers, or on social media, or watched on television. These are accounts that only someone who worked for Trump around the clock for over a decade-not a few months or even a couple of years-could know. Cohen describes Trump’s racist rants against President Barack Obama, Nelson Mandela, and Black and Hispanic people in general.
As well as the cruelty, humiliation, and abuse he leveled at family and staff. Whether he’s exposing the fact that Trump engaged in tax fraud by inflating his wealth or electronic fraud by rigging an online survey, or outing Trump’s Neanderthal view towards women or his hush-money payments to clandestine lovers, Cohen pulls no punches in this book.
He shows Trump’s relentless willingness to lie, exaggerate, mislead, or manipulate. Trump emerges as a man without a soul-a man who courts evangelicals and then trashes them, panders to the common man, but then rips off small business owners, a con man who will do or say absolutely anything to win, regardless of the cost to his family, his associates, or his country.
At the heart of Disloyal, we see how Cohen came under the spell of his charismatic “Boss” and, as a result, lost all sense of his moral compass.
The real “real Donald Trump who permeates these pages-is the racist, sexist, homophobic, lying, cheating President-the truths about Donald Trump and all of his wrongs, willfully enacted against the United States and abroad will be discussed and investigated for years after the Trump era comes to an end. With Donald Trump looking for reelection, and once again trying to cheat to get that victory, we as a nation need to always hold our leaders accountable, so my best advice to anyone in The United States is to vote, and make sure you track your vote if you do vote by mail.
