Impeach: The Case Against Donald Trump, By Neal Katyal

This book, Impeach by Neal Katyal-The Case Against Donald Trump, this book goes into why President Trump has left us no choice Impeach by Neal Katyalbut to remove him from office, as explained by celebrated Supreme Court lawyer and former Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal.

No One Is Above The Law

No one is above the law, this belief is as American as freedom of speech and turkey on Thanksgiving-held sacred by Democrats and Republicans alike. But as celebrated Supreme Court lawyer and former Acting Solicitor General, Neal Katyal argues in Impeachment, if Donald Trump is not held accountable for repeatably asking foreign powers to interfere in the 2020 presidential election this could very well mark the end of our democracy. To quote President George Washington’s Farewell Address, “Foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes to republican government.” Impeachment should always be the last resort, explains Katyal, but our founders, our principles, and our constitution leaves us with no choice but to impeach President Trump, before its to late.

Donald Trump Will Survive A Trial In The Senate

Donald Trump Impeachment is a done deal, but his actual removal from office is the longest of shots. More than likely, as Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton did before him, Donald Trump will be aquitted in a senate trial by a majority vote. Come 2020, Presidential Election, expect to see Donald Trumps name on the ballot box for the Republicans. Even if Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and possibly other Democratic candidates for president are leading Trump in the polls right now, the battle lines give the edge to the president.

Qid Pro Quo-This For That

The Quid Pro Quo is the phone call that happened on September 7th,2019. He did not exactly say the words, quid pro quo, but he went on to outline his preconditions for releasing the security assistance and granting a White House visit. The call was so alarming that when John Bolton learned of it, he ordered his deputy Tim Morrison to immediately report it to the National Security Council lawyers.Trump on phone

President Trump sought to condition, official acts, such as a White House meeting or U.S. military assistance of 391 million dollars to help Ukraine fight Russia in a hot war, but Trump wanted Ukraine’s newly elected President Zelenski to help with the two political investigations that would help him in his re-election campaign in 2020.

The two investigations were: 1) To investigate Barisma (Hunter sat on the board) and Trump wanted to know why he got that job and says that Joe Biden got the job for him. 2) He also wanted to investigate the 2016 election (already debunked, and proven that Russia interfered in the 2016 election) that the server was hacked by Ukraine and not Russia.

How Nancy Pelosi Should have Played Impeachment Cards

Nancy Pelosi
Nancy Pelosi

George T. Conway III is a lawyer (married to Kelly Ann Conway-spokes person for Donald Trump) is a lawyer in the New York and an adviser to the Lincoln Project, and an anti-Trump super PAC. Neal Katyal, when setting this up for what they both proposed says: Nancy Pelosi (Speaker of The House) has announced that she plans to transmit the articles of Impeachment to the Senate, but that does not mean she has lost in the stand-off with Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, over whether to call witnesses at the senate trial. McConnell has said: “There will be no chance the president is going to be removed from office” and “there will be no difference between the president’s position and our position.”

So what George Conway and Neal Katyal have said is that the first article of impeachment effectively charges the president with shaking down Ukraine and the second impeaches him for his unprecedented obstruction of congress. That gives the speaker room to maneuver. She could choose to tweak her announcement and send only the second article on obstruction for trial, or she could transmit them both-along with a House-approval provision advising the senate that if it fails to obtain adequate witnesses and documents, the House will re-open the investigation into Article I and subpoena that material itself.

In Conclusion

Great book, it is a page turner and makes you think by going back to when all of this impeachment articles were brought about. This book reminds you of how important it is that we hold our governmental officials responsible for corruption, even the President and in by opinion, especially our President. We need to be reminded of why Donald Trump is now Impeached and that is that he put our national security at risk by withholding appropriated military assistance to Ukraine to help them in the fight with Russia in a hot war. We also need to remember that if we involve foreign interference in our elections, then we ultimately have lost our democracy as we know it.

At some point, there will be a Democratic President, or a different President and if this just gets shoved under the rug, without a fair trial with witnesses and documents on both sides, the next president can do the same with no accountability, because this trial will set the precedent for that. Scary thought and gives you something to think about.

  1. Thanks a lot for such an amazing review about Impeach By Neal Katyal and explanations are given.

I am not very familiar with politics and what is happening, but I recommend this article you can find a lot of information about politicians, surely my father will really like this article.

Thanks again and keep in touch!

    1. Thanks Razvanllie, and please give the link to your dad, and have him give his opinion on the book and possibly the article and articles I have written, would appreciate the input.

  2. Someone told me a similar thing recently, that even though the impeachment is pretty much a done deal, he may very well be acquitted and his name may be among the candidates for the next elections. This is something I don’t understand. How could anyone even consider voting for someone who has quite a list of wrongdoings (I had a hard time to find the right word for it … wrongdoings seems mild) I do not live in the US, but it baffles me (and many people worldwide) how many Republicans still hold him in high esteem … I find this just unbelievable, mad, …

Presidents in the past have been removed for lesser wrongs, but this one just seems to be able to get away with it or think he can get away with it …

The book looks interesting. I hope that the president won’t get away with what he did, because if he does – just like you mention – it sets a precedent for future presidents, and democracy is in danger if presidents can act like despots …

    1. Thank you Christine, I am with you, as far as how do the Republican voters ignore all the crap that he has gotten away with, but it is so true here in the U.S. and if people, like you, who don’t even live in this country can see it, why in the heck can’t they. Its all about tax cuts and selfish thinking people and their own welfare and not of their fellow neighbors in my opinion. Thanks again Christine

  3. Thanks Bobbi for an insight of this book I have always wanted to read, if time permits I may want to try and go through it. Trump really is going with a bang and with all that world war 3 he also had raising I think the guy really is putting our country at unnecessary risk. Well, just about every politician craves power they will do anything to get it.

    1. Thank you Donny for your comment, and I agree that our national security is at risk, and we as the people who elect these politicians need to stand up and point out our fears. Thanks again Donny

  4. Hello Bobbi. It might surprise you to know that I didn’t really have a full picture of why Donald Trump, President of USA was impeached. This article has brought a light to me at the end of this tunnel. It’s a very nice thing to see that a leader is held accountable for his actions. Trump’s deed are not safe at all. Something should be done about it which is being worked upon right now. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!

    1. Thank you MrBiizy for your comment, that’s right, no one should be above the law and he has been held accountable by his impeachment, no lets see what the Senate does with the trial.
